SUNY Sullivan Graduate Receives $5,000 Wolf Lake Neighbors Foundation Transfer Scholarship

Posted June 26, 2026

SUNY Sullivan graduate Destiny Zimmer has been awarded the $5,000 Wolf Lake Neighbors Foundation Transfer Scholarship, helping support her continued education at a SUNY four-year institution this fall.

Zimmer, a Monticello resident and Town of Thompson native, graduated from SUNY Sullivan this spring with an associate degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences, with a concentration in psychology. She is transferring to Binghamton University, an outstanding SUNY institution, to pursue her bachelor’s degree and a career focused on mental health and helping others.

A first-generation college student, Zimmer participated in SUNY Sullivan’s Educational Opportunity Program, an academic support program that helps eligible students enroll, persist, and succeed through advising, tutoring, counseling, and supplemental financial support. She maintained a 3.16 cumulative GPA and served as an EOP engagement manager for all four semesters of her time at SUNY Sullivan.

“This scholarship will help in so many ways,” said Zimmer. “I’m very thankful. I worry about money and loans to pay for my education and this really takes the weight off my shoulders.”

The Wolf Lake Neighbors Foundation Transfer Scholarship was established to assist SUNY Sullivan graduates continuing their education at a SUNY transfer institution. The scholarship supports students who demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, and a commitment to continuing their education.

This spring, Zimmer also received the Norman R. McConney Jr. Award, presented annually to one graduating EOP student who has demonstrated outstanding academic and personal achievement.
